Nivas believes in creating thoughtful, contemporary pieces for your home using natural materials combined with ancient making techniques. Each cone of yarn is ethically sourced and making techniques are non invasive. Each product is as unique as the woman who makes it.

Founded by a Nepali woman born and raised in the heart of Kathmandu, Nivas means home, sanctuary or comfort zone in the local language. We spend most of our day working at a job or towards something and we wanted the workplace we create to be a source of pride, comfort and a second home. An open door for growth and empowerment.

We use little to no electricity in all of our making processes. We use hand-looms to make our knitwear. The only usage of energy in our entire process is for overhead lighting, ironing, heating up water for dyeing yarn (done in-house) and for making tea during our mandatory mid-day tea breaks.

Felting is an ancient way of making textiles. The only materials used are wool, soap, and water. This makes the production process low in impact to the environment and the end product is completely biodegradable.

We source yarn and wool from small farms and have been working with them for two generations. Other than the raw materials we source, we are vertically integrated, ensuring fair practices every step of the way.
